It is easier to make something complex than create something simple.

This thought provoking sentence challenges all of us to ensure our business creations lean toward simplicity. These creations need to be simple, easy to understand, be clearly communicated and wherever possible, avoid complexity.

How does the business world make things complicated? Some have lots of meetings, others add too many options or try to cater for everyone’s tastes, and as a result, organisations tend to over complicate the outcome.

In the Pentana Solutions world our systems have great depth and functionality. One of our ongoing projects has been to continuously simplify the way our users interact with our various products. Our customers’ user experience is a growing focus of our innovation efforts. We are delighted to be receiving such positive reference from our customers on these initiatives and in line with this we are embracing simplicity as a standard part of our design process. It is a continuous balance to maximise the depth and functionality whilst never losing sight of how the user interacts with the system.

I challenge you all, when next involved in a project aimed at resolving a problem, to find the simple solution for the end user versus taking the easy route and adding more complexity.
